The Almont Triangle is located in the heart of Gunnison Country and is home to endless recreational opportunities.

If fishing is your interest, the Almont area is home to the prestigious annual “Super Fly” Fly Fishing tournament. The Taylor River is next to the house and is a gold medal trout fishing river. It is 21 miles up the Taylor Canyon to Taylor Reservoir where mackinaw can be taken in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. The East River meets the Taylor approximately 800 feet to the south and forms the Gunnison River. All three of these, each great fishing rivers, flow into Blue Mesa Reservoir. Blue Mesa boasts great varieties of fishing including Kokanee Salmon that run up the rivers in late summer to spawn.

If snow skiing or other winter activities are of interest, Crested Butte is approximately 18 miles to the north or transportation can be caught in the morning and back in the afternoon across the street from this property. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, snowmobiling and other winter activities are available in all directions from Almont.

If the other 8 months are of interest, the summers offer cool nights and warm days. Since the house is so close to the river, windows are left open and the sounds of the river can be heard from almost every room in the house. Besides fishing and rafting, a variety of summer activities such as hiking, camping, mountain climbing, trail riding, four-wheeling, and golf are available. There is a beautiful golf course in Gunnison, 12 miles to the south which has water on 17 holes with 4 shots across the river. Approximately 15 miles to the north is the Trent Jones designed Crested Butte Country Club course.
